SAN DIEGO, September 2, 2014 – Cytori Therapeutics (NASDAQ: CYTX) has consolidated its EU operations to a new European office combined with a manufacturing facility in Deeside, Wales, UK. Relocation of Cytori’s European offices from Switzerland to Wales and the expansion of manufacturing capabilities to the EU should reduce manufacturing costs over time and may facilitate broader regulatory approvals around the world.

Cytori’s Welsh office will house EU-based customer service and will be increasingly responsible for ongoing manufacturing of current and future products sold in the EU and other markets such as China. The next generation Celution® System, currently in development in San Diego, will also be manufactured in the UK.

The consolidation to Wales has also positioned Cytori to receive a number of government incentives. These incentives, part of the Welsh Government's program to attract new business investment, are valued at up to £450,000 over several years and include property tax relief and defraying labor costs for a specified term. Cytori’s Welsh office has completed the required medical device manufacturing certification audits, including those for ISO13485 and ISO 9001.

The news has been warmly welcomed by Welsh Economy Minister Edwina Hart who said, “I am delighted to welcome Cytori to Wales where they will establish their European headquarters. This is another significant boost for the life science sector in Wales and builds on the growing expertise within Wales in cell therapy and regenerative medicine.”

On September 18th, Cytori will be honored to mark the official opening of the new facility with a ceremony that will be presided over by Carwyn Jones, the First Minister of Wales.

I think thats neat... I like Wales. Worked a lot over there too in my Alcoa early years... :winky:

Although the industrial estate of Deeside is in Wales- the border to England is right on the east side of the estate. And Liverpool - Merseyside much closer than say - a large city in Wales- Wrexham. Anyway- the nice part of Wales- Snowdonia National park- Colwyn, Bangor etc are quite a ways away. :winky:

Here is picture- typical British industrial estate.

Lets say- the fact that Carwyn Jones comes to Deeside to officially open the facility on September 18th, is not without relevance.

I even know the guy- not having been in the UK for ages.

This is his function as per Wikipedia-

Under the arrangements in the Government of Wales Act 1998, executive functions are conferred on the National Assembly for Wales and then separately delegated to the First Minister and to other Cabinet Ministers and staff as appropriate.

Until the Government of Wales Act 2006, these were delegated powers of the UK government. Since that Act came into force in May 2007, however, the First Minister is appointed by the monarch and represents the Crown in Wales. Whilst this has little practical difference, it was a huge symbolic shift as for the first time in centuries the head of government in Wales is appointed by the Crown on the advice of the elected representatives of the Welsh people.

The First Minister appoints the Welsh Ministers, Deputy Welsh Ministers and the Counsel General for Wales (collectively known as the Welsh Government), with the approval of Her Majesty.

Following separation between the legislative and the executive on the enactment of the Government of Wales Act 2006 (upon appointment of the First Minister, 25 May 2007), the Welsh Ministers exercise functions in their own right. Any further transfers of executive functions from the UK Government will be made directly to the Welsh Ministers (with their consent) by an Order in Council approved by Parliament.

The First Minister is accountable and responsible for:

Exercise of functions by the Cabinet of the Welsh Government.
Policy development and coordination of policy.
The relationships with the rest of the United Kingdom, Europe and Wales Abroad.
Staffing/Civil Service

Just another finger pointing politician Fas who himself has been blamed as a do nothing by other politicians.

First Minister of the 3 million or so inhabitants of Wales.

I seem to be missing the same relevance you see

Do not worry Hedge- there are many many things of which you miss the relevance. Most of them will not even dawn on you at a later stage.

Anyway- I am pretty sure, you had never heard of Carwyn Jones before reading Cytori´s announcement. Reading a small piece on Wikipedia does not make you all that much smarter also. Coming myself from a small country which has produced suns and daughters of great global fame, the same applies to the Welsh, who even have their own language... :bash: :bash:

WooHoo...LOL !
We seem to have a bigger point of contention here they our disagreement on the value on the published SUI results.

Let me bring it back home so not to offend any further because I also agree it doesnt matter where you come from but what you do in life.

The city of Philadelphia build in new convention center back in the 1990's and they even sent the Vice President of the United States to take a tour for the opening...lots a money and consessions given here as well...so if you want to imply it is more than the usual political "Look what I did photo op." thats fine...maybe it is....maybe it isnt.

As for hearing of Carwyn Jones before...your right, except I didnt even read about him in Cytori's announcement ! :joy:

BTW: The memorable quote from Vice President Al Gore with hoards of news media in tow "THIS IS REALLY SOMETHING"
Yes...his exact words. I still remember some 21 years later.....yeah...that was worth the tax payers cost in airfare, ect...LOL !
Perhaps First Minister Jones will be more inspiring .

Oops...almost forgot...I was aware of the Welsh having their own language.

The article in Wales Online appears to have the detail information correct----

The company has invested more than 200 mio in research, product development and clinical trials over the past decade. Cytori’s CE-Marked Celution® Systems have global patent protection and are registered as a medical device in Europe.

The systems are sold to research customers developing new therapeutic applications for Cytori Cell Therapy in Europe, Japan and other regions. One partner, Lorem Vascular, has exclusive rights to commercialise the Cytori Cell Therapy System in China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and Australia, initially for the cardiovascular, renal and diabetes markets.

Systems for all these markets will be manufactured in Wales.

Cytori also has a particular focus on wound healing and is keen to further discussions with the Welsh Wound Innovation Centre about potential future collaborative opportunities in Wales.

What impressed me most from the Cytori announcement is that the facility already has ISO certs- I presume this line means: Cytori’s Welsh office has completed the required medical device manufacturing certification audits, including those for ISO13485 and ISO 9001.- that they received the standards.

That would be quite an accomplishment and an indication that processes are "operational" and "running".

I wonder if Cytori plans to use this site for a tax inversion to save on taxes paid in the USA ?

This has been big news this year with companies off-shoring, if on paper only, headquarters.

I am not saying this is the reason they located in Deeside...in fact I dont believe it is....just saying the opportunity may exist.

No revenues No taxes ,hardly a concern for Cytori ,but wishful thinking. With US government as only source of revenue now, I hardly think they will mess with Uncle Sam,but again nobody has ever accused any management at Cytori of having any brains.

This is just another example of how the FDA sends jobs overseas.

If I remember correctly, Calhoun stated KT Lim's sales projections are for $ 10 billion in the first 10 years of the 30 year contract. The transfer pricing and license fees would result in $ 4 billion in revenue to Cytori in the period Jan 1, 2014 through Dec 31, 2023. The 8 years to which you referred represents zero sales in the first two years, which I believe will prove correct. :bash:

Thanks DOV...currently away so didnt have the quotes in front of me. Of course, we had to revamp that original contract that CC made those quotes on.....as if CC was a reliable source to begin with !

K T Lim should be a better manager so there is still hope he can put together a effective program.

We are also still waiting for that 1st Okyanos patient to be treated as well

Philippines had a big fancy opening for the clinic there...still havent heard if the government has given approval for trials....Fas thinks Deeside's political photo opp. will be different. I guess we know next week.

Hedge- you seem to be still "riding around" on a line that I wrote that the opening of the 18th could have some relevance.

It should be clear by now for anybody who is reading here, that I have an interest in all kind of other things than just the PPS of Cytori. Unlike others apparently.

Anyway- today- the 18th of September, is of major historic proportion, in that the Scottish population votes for independence or to remain part of the United Kingdom. Anybody who knows of the history of the two separate crowns, about Robert Bruce or even only the ones who saw Braveheart in the movies, about William Wallace (historically totally over-blown though), will know what I mean.

Even if Carwyn Jones- the voted leader of the Welsh population- has stated he and his people want to remain in the UK, as the Nationalist leader of a few million Welsh folks, whose roots tie also up to the Irish and the Scots, he will be looked at and his opinion will be asked today. That is for sure.

But instead of talking to the Media, he is opening the Cytori plant at Deeside today. I think that is neat and of relevance for a mini -mini-microcap of approx. 75 Mio $ (which is even less than 50 Mio Sterling). :puke:

Because you are placing more value than I to a political leader making a public appearance than I am and, to me, suggesting there is more to it than what it is. If he is/was there is usher in a special announcement today....then fine ...you have relevance. Otherwise I place no value on it. Just my opinion....which you didnt seem to care for. Which is perfectly fine....we are not here to agree on all points but share various opinions.

As far as his opinion on the Scottish vote....it is very well know he favors they stay in the UK.
I admit I dont know how the politics works in the UK but on election day here commentary by politicians generally stops as the people vote....media and anayst still have a field day. I am sure he will have plenty of time for comments later today should he chose to do so.

Maybe the BOD can make a visit to actually see what a Cytori Celution device looks like. Time to get their heads out of their a$$ and get this ship righted. I think we've taken enough punishment from the beginning of August, let alone a few years.

Probably safer to wait about six years until they make one of the things. KT Lin might need a procedure by then.
